David Brooks Goes Commie?!?
Not exactly. O.k., not at all. But his editorial today is based around the works of Marx and is worth reading. It's about how our meritocratic system combined with our changing social mores have created a new kind of class stratification that keeps the educated families wealthy and the uneducated families poor.
Very interesting.

Thanks for pointing this out! I've decided to log my own opinions on this in my own blog, but I'm not entirely happy with Brook's assessment.
Yes, education is a big stumbling block to equality in America today. But does Brooks really believe that this problem is an explicitly formed strategy to keep "the masses" in line?
As reasonable and insightful as he usually is, I was left a bit confused as to whether David meant this piece as satire!
